Cleanliness & Safety
It is one of our highest priorities to provide guests with a clean safe place to stay. A thorough cleaning is done prior to all guest arrivals. Vacation Homes are equipped with smoke detectors near all bedrooms, and all bedrooms have egress windows.

Our cleaning checklist:
Bathrooms
- Toilets disinfected inside & out, including base and behind.
- Sinks thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
- Chrome fixtures cleaned and shined.
- Vanity top thoroughly cleaned – move decorations if necessary.
- Towels changed.
- Mirrors cleaned
- Trash emptied – new trash liner installed if dirty.
- Mop & disinfect floor.
- Check & clean inside medicine cabinet (remove anything left behind).
- Clean Tub & Shower & fixtures – no hair left (report any leaky faucets).
- Remove any used soap bars.
- Soft soap dispensers should be ½ to full.
- Provide one hand towel in each bathroom.
- Dispose of any towels that are worn out, damaged or soiled and can’t be cleaned properly.
- Fill & Leave “Shower to Shower” spray inside the shower/tub
- Always place a “new roll” (or fold ends if there is a slightly used roll) of toilet paper in each bathroom.
- Check for water leaks & report them to Manager ASAP
- Make sure to flush toilets to verify they are in operating condition.
Kitchen
- Countertops and backsplash cleaned, disinfected and rinsed.
- Remove all food from refrigerator & freezer and cupboards (only salt & pepper, packaged cream & sugar, spices should be left in kitchen).
- Clean refrigerator inside & outside.
- Clean microwave, stove top, & oven (don‘t use oven cleaners inside oven).
- Mop floor with cleaner.
- Wash dishes & put back in shelves.
- Leave one full roll of paper towels.
- Make sure there are TWO dishwasher soap containers under sink.
- Make sure there are plenty of trash bags under sink.
- Clean trash can inside & outside.
- Light general straightening of all drawers, cupboards, dishes & pots & pans, under sink.
- Inside & Outside of appliances (oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, stovetop) cleaned.
- Sinks scrubbed and disinfected.
- Wipe small appliances, including toaster and coffee maker.
- Fire extinguishers should be out in view – counter top near sink.
- Light general straightening all drawers, cupboards, under sink
Bedrooms
- Bedrooms
- Remove & wash used sheets & pillow cases.
- Remove & wash mattress pad if necessary.
- Beds made.
- Mirrors cleaned.
- Check all drawers – remove any clothing left behind.
- Light general straightening , including closets.
- All areas dusted – on top, in front.
- Living Areas/Hallways/Stairs/Closets
- Straighten & dust all picture frames.
- Upholstered furniture vacuumed.
- Open sleeper sofa and inspect – clean if necessary.
- Check TV/VCR operation.
- Vacuum (& spot clean if necessary) carpet
- Clean/mop entry tile floor.
- Close fireplace doors make sure damper is closed (“C” chain pulled”)
- Provide one wax log near fire place.
- Spot clean fingerprints from fireplace glass doors.
- Light general straightening; pictures, furniture, including closets – matching coat hangers only
- Make sure all light bulbs are working.
- Dust baseboard heat vents (MONTHLY)
- Put furniture back in original position.
- Fingerprints wiped from all windows, woodwork, door frames and switches.
- Light general straightening all rooms; including pictures, furniture, drawers, closets – matching coat hangers only.
- Cushions and pillows fluffed and straightened; all rooms.
- Remove all cobwebs – high & low.
- Turn on TV/DVDs make sure it is operational.
- Straighten all throw rugs.
Outside the Vacation Home
- Sweep in front of outside doors & remove cob webs.
- Walk around entire home – pick up litter.
- Check grill – make sure it lights – clean.
- Put deck furniture back in order.
- Remove snow so doors will open for emergency exit and report excessive snow problems or ice buildup on roof.
- Check around trash cans – pick up area if necessary.
- Trash – put all trash in outside bins to be emptied.
Hallway Closet
- Provide twin sheets, two pillows & pillow cases for one folding bed upstairs.
- Provide 10 sets of towels & washcloths
- Provide soap & shampoo sample size.
- Provide sheets & blanket for sleeper sofa.
Basement/Washer/Dryer
- General straightening of linens
- Check to make sure furnace is running & hot water works.
- Report supply needs.
- Lock door to laundry area unless instructed otherwise.
